Geyser Report Wednesday, September 23, 2015 Not much to offer today. Great hike to Cougar Creek yesterday. The weather continues to be terrific. Sign at W entrance said that all lodging and campgrounds were full this AM. The warm weather has melted the snow on the peaks. Started at Norris this AM (26 degrees 0645) to check Ledge, which did not look promising. Bill Warnock posted an update on Geyser Times. I stopped just S of Beryl Spring to catch a view of the little waterfall on the Gibbon, then headed for Fountain Flat hoping for an Iron Pot eruption. It was still below freezing at 0830, but made it to the mid 60's by mid-day. A USGS crew was doing water testing on the area features. Iron Pot had a low level of vigorously boiling water that did not budge for 2 hours. I opted to check out the bathhouse and Queen's Laundry Spring. When I returned, Iron Pot had erupted. I'll have to try again soon. I had a distant view of the 1119 Fountain eruption from Sentinel Meadow. Barbara Lasseter -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
