That is NOT OSG-3, which is a good 450 or so feet from Orange Spring; to see the site of OSG-3 (I don't think you can actually see the spring itself) look westward from the paved trail at Castle. The reference in this e-mail appears to be to OSG-2, also known as "UNNGOSG," in the Orange Spring Group proper. It has been having relatively frequent, intermittent overflows and occasional eruptions over the past two or so years. Last summer I saw it reach as high as about 2 feet. There is a smaller spring closer to the asphault path and just to the left of OS that now has an obvious runoff channel leading to the right. I've watched it hoping to see it do something but never did until 6/30. Then it was finally in overflow and had been for perhaps 5-10 mins based on where the water was in the channel. It was boiling and pulsating and began erupting with occasional splashes to 4 feet. I watched for 20 more mins with no change before leaving. Is this osg 3? Anyone else seen this? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: </geyser-list/attachments/20100705/59d8ad01/attachment.html>
