  Hi Karen- Will says that it's pretty hard to tell from the picture, but that it was definitely in that area. he says that the water column of whatever he saw erupting was "much wider" and "taller" than what the picture shows. also, he never went back to West Thumb after that day. sorry, I don't think that helps much.
