Here's an update! I'm arriving next week with
about 10 families... not the news I wanted to
read yesterday! I forwarded it to my group as
a reminder. Very sad. ~ Vicky
Boy burned at Yellowstone released from Utah hospital
By The Associated Press Monday, June 12, 2006
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) -- A 6-year-old
boy who was burned after he slipped and fell into water from
a geyser in the Old Faithful area on Saturday has been treated
and released from the burn center at the University of Utah
Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Barbara Schuster, a registered nurse at the burn center, said
Monday that she couldn't release any information about the
extent of the boy's injuries.
However, Schuster said, "it is good news" that the boy was
treated and released to go home. She said he wasn't sent
to any other medical center.
The boy, of South Jordan, Utah, slipped on a wet boardwalk
and fell into water from a recently erupted geyser at about
6 p.m. Saturday.
The boy's arms and legs were burned in the fall, and he was
flown to the Utah burn center, park officials said.
It is National Park Service policy not to release the identities
of juvenile accident victims, according to the agency.
In October, another 6-year-old boy was severely burned
when he tripped and fell into a hot spring in the park while
walking off a trail with his father.
