Any thoughts on this?? Well, here's my 3-cents worth (that's inflation). It seems quite clear that the Mastiff etc. activity seen last weekend, 4/21-23, was something different. But let's remember what Giant did in 1951 to 1955. Until the eruption of January 14, 1952, Giant averaged about 5d 17h. At that point there was some sort of abrupt change (which can be interpreted as a switch from Mastiff function to Normal function [?]), and from then until it abruptly began to change again in July 1955 the average interval was only about 2d 06h 24m (my calculation from the data in Marler's _Inventory_). There were quite a few intervals of less than 2 days, and two of those were only about 1d 10h. Also during that time, there were rather few intervals longer than 4 days and none quite as long as 5 days. So thoughts? We might -- hope hope -- be in for some good times. Gee, we might even get bored with the silly thing. (right) Scott Bryan P.S. Hallelujah! Betty and I will be on the road north tomorrow morning early, into West on Monday, and probably into Old Faithful on Tuesday and/or Wednesday. (Gotta go to Bozeman sometime, though.) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: </geyser-list/attachments/20060429/c774781d/attachment.html>
