There seems to be a lot of bears around the Upper Geyser Basin. This was our third trip to Yellowstone this year and we have encountered bears in the UGB on all three trips. Twice while waiting at Artemisia and this time while waiting at Giant. On May 30th at Approximately 10:52 a grizzly bear was spotted across the river from Giant walking up the basin. It wandered up past the Purple Pools then up past Grand. The bear turned right just before the boardwalk junction by Sawmill, Crossed the river just below Castle and went into the trees. This photo of the grizzly was taken from Grand as the bear walked next to the boardwalk by Sawmill. The bear stayed in the open most of the time and many people were rewarded with a glimpse of this beautiful animal. It was a real thrill. Enjoy.
