I have posted the latest geyser statistics on the GOSA website at

http://www.geyserstudy.org/electronic_summary_2004.htm

There will be one more update early next week following this weekend's data
download. All the loggers are (I hope) set for winter.

Plate had some unusual long (~10 hour) pauses followed by long (~12 minute)
eruptions. Beehive continued to be quite regular (for Beehive) at around 14
hours (one interval was 12h02m). Plume stayed asleep since the
post-midnight eruption on 8 September. Boardwalk had four eruptions, all in
concert with Plate (and not associated with Plate's long intervals or
durations). Oblong is settling into series mode, with series of from two to
four eruptions two to four hours apart separated by pauses of as long as 14
hours. Old Faithful remains constant-note that there was just one short
interval in each of the last two weeks. Riverside is strongly bimodal with
all of the eruptions coming about 20 minutes before or after the mean and
none at the mean. Grand is maintaining its short intervals with an
occasional 9+ hour interval to keep things from getting too routine.

In the Lower Geyser Basin Fountain has slightly increased its intervals in
the past week. Great Fountain has had widely varying intervals. A
prediction of 11h10m with a plus or minus two hour window gets just 71% of
the eruptions with the other 29% exceeding the window.

At West Thumb Hillside had just three eruptions in the past week, and Lone
Pine is continuing at an approximately 25 hour average interval but has had
intervals as long as 30h42m and as short as 22h54m, so seeing it is largely
a matter of luck.

I have received no further information on Echinus.

Green Spring is active at Black Sand Basin. The logger shows many days
recently with a lot of interrupted overflows (possible eruptions, but we
have no reports to verify any of them).

If you are visiting Old Faithful, remember that the graphs showing the
geyser activity for the year are in a binder at the OFVC desk and can be
perused at the information desk. Just ask the Rangers on duty (but please
remember how busy they get just after Old Faithful erupts).

Also remember that the Visitor Center has a limited staff this time of year
so the prediction boards in the basin are not updated as frequently as in
the summer season, and there is often nobody available to respond to minor
incidents reported on the GOSA radio.
