powerful @ 1359 on 9/7]
"Rejuvenated": 0612ie, 0643, 0710

Seen yesterday: a forest service truck stopped on the loop road beside a
bison near Biscuit. They had backed up a bit of traffic and 1 fellow had
gotten out between the truck and the bison (maybe 5-10yds away) while
someone in the truck took his picture--big grin.

The stripped pavement on the northbound lane at Fountain Flat is starting
to break down--still no further work evident.

A pair of bison near the boardwalk from Sawmill to Lion led me to go to the
hill via the Old Faithful bridge this AM. The new asphalt there looks
terrific, and logs have been placed across the "shortcut" at the bend just
below Old Faithful. The well-defined path should encourage traffic to stay
on the trail, and the surface is a major improvement over the old broken
path. The rose hips along the way are bright red.

No sign of marmots on either the hillside at the top of that new asphalt
trail or behind Grand, despite the sunshine. Looks like they may have gone
to den.

I'm hoping to catch the last public tour of the Yellowstone archives in
Gardiner in the AM, as well as visit the "new" Albright VC in Mammoth. I
don't expect to file a report for the next 2 days. I have seen many gazers
just long enough to say a quick hello over the holiday, and already they
are leaving!
