Thursday, September 4, 2014 This geyser report includes eruptions I saw and eruption times reported via FRS radio or by other gazers. I was at Norris geyser basin today until after 1500, so all geyser times from the Upper and Lower basins prior to 1600 in the report below are from other gazers. In addition to enjoying Steamboat’s steam phase, I saw eruptions of Vixen, Constant, Whirligig, Arsenic, Pinto, and Orbicular. Constant intervals ranged from 14 to 16 minutes for the 6 closed intervals I observed and Whirligig had a closed interval of 3 hours, 49 minutes from the 0850 eruption reported by MA to the 1239 eruption I saw. Vixen intervals ranged from 7 to 26 minutes with an average of 12 minutes, 30 seconds for the 6 closed intervals I observed. The eruption followed by the 26 minute interval had a duration of 22 minutes, so Vixen was only off for 4 minutes before the next eruption started.
