[Geysers] a historical question

Thanks, Rob. I also posted this over on the Geyser Gazer Facebook list and got a lot of good information. As I suspected, building boardwalks was a gradual thing – apparently started in the 1940s, but not complete till several decades later.

Meg,
I'm sure you will be inundated with sources to check on the board walk Q.
I was up there geyser gazing in 1959,but only being 10 years old I don't remember for sure. I would have to guess not. My parents and I camped at the Hebgen Lake area one week before the earthquake, but that is another story.
     Happy trails to you.
Best wishes, Rob Haker roberthaker at yahoo.com

Can anyone tell me if there were boardwalks in the Upper Geyser Basin in 1959? Or, better yet, when were boardwalks first built in the geyser basins?

Thank you!
