Tuesday, September 3, 2013 
This geyser report includes  eruptions I saw and eruption times reported 
via FRS radio. 
Today’s big news:  The trifecta eruptions of Fountain,  Morning, and Morning
’s Thief just before 1 AM.  Fountain started at 0057 with Morning  and 
Morning’s Thief starting at 0058.  Duration for Morning was 56 minutes, while 
Fountain lasted nearly 3 hours  with a duration of 176 minutes.  The  next 
observed activity from the group was a visitor report of Fountain at 0940  with 
a duration of only 7 minutes. 
I spent about 90 minutes in  Biscuit  Basin today, mainly taking  intervals 
of Jewel, East Mustard, and “Outpost.”  I also managed to get one closed  
interval of 34 minutes for “Sentry” and one eruption from “Yellow Bubbler” 
which  lasted for at least 12 minutes.  Avoca Spring, Island, Rusty, and 
Salt  and Pepper were also active, but I did not record eruption times for 
them. 
Jewel intervals ranged from 7 to  9 minutes with an average of 8 minutes, 
22 seconds for 11 closed  intervals. 
East Mustard intervals also  ranged from 7 to 9 minutes, but with a 
slightly lower average of 8 minutes,  0 seconds for 10 closed intervals.  (I 
actually had a total of 11 closed intervals, but the first eruption  was an “ie” 
time so I excluded it from the calculations.  If I used the “ie” time as 
the start  time for the first eruption, the average interval would be 7 
minutes,  55 seconds for 11 closed intervals.) 
“Outpost” intervals ranged from 4  to 6 minutes with an average of 5 
minutes, 9 seconds for 7 closed  intervals between 1208 and 1244.  I  recorded 
some additional eruptions beyond 1244 but there may be a missed  eruption as I 
had moved down closer to Jewel at that point, making Outpost more  
difficult to observe.  The actual  eruption times for Jewel, East Mustard, “Outpost”
 and “Sentry” are included in  the report below.
