For Imperial, are they referring to the actual Imperial vent and all activity since has been from the side vent that currently erupts? This plus Fairy Falls were Paul and my first hike in Yellowstone (from back when you could drive to the trailhead below Ojo Caliente), and that was the year Scott refers to as the year everyone was surprised to see that this lovely geyser had become a small, muddy perpetual spouter. Lucky us. (It was far to the right as you stood facing the pool so the mudpots were on your left; wondered with 20/20 hindsight if this was the actual Imperial vent) We also struck out for both features based on my saying, "Oh, it's *only* three miles, we really don't need to take anything." We took the path toward Steel Bridge coming back, so I think it was more like a 7 mile hike without the amenities like water, sunscreen, bug repellent, food. Paul *so* did not talk to me for the rest of the day. But seriously, has activity except for 1928-9 technically been a vent *in* Imperial's pool and not Imperial itself?
