Mary Ann Moss' account of her experience at Excelsior Geyser, Sept. 14-16, 1985, is featured in Transactions Volume X, Pages 133-140. It also includes 14 photographs she took of the eruption. Great article, well worth reading.

Not saying she wasn't. Trust me with a three year old and a massive wave of water headed the way they were not really looking for others. Was she on the road? She would not have wanted to be on the back part of the crater. The picture my dad took from the side was close enough and had it been a historical eruption - we would not be here to tell the tale.

They were doing a nose count at that time afterwards. It was late in the day and most people had gone home or in Rick's case...gone to check on other things. I think he regretted that one the rest of his life.
