Thanks for all your reports this trip Lynn, they give great insight into what is happening and what this year's group of visitors are up to also. I have to take issue with your comment that seeing Artemisia and Atomizer erupting together is "so not cool". Seeing both of them erupting together would make my day :) Graham Meech From: geysers-bounces at lists.wallawalla.edu [mailto:geysers-bounces at lists.wallawalla.edu] On Behalf Of Lynn Stephens Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2012 7:02 PM To: geysers at lists.wallawalla.edu Subject: [Geysers] Bubbles at Artemisia This morning when I arrived at Artemisia, it took me a little while before I noticed one of the catch basins was filled with what appeared to be soap bubbles. Bill Warnock helped relay the information to the VEC. A law enforcement ranger came out to take a few pictures. He did not have authorization to collect a sample to determine whether they actually were soap bubbles. Ron and Stephen Gemar and an interpretive ranger looked at the bubbles and agreed with me that they appeared to be soap bubbles. The 1326 eruption of Artemisia washed the bubbles away. Stephen called the eruption time on the FRS radio. The VEC asked whether the eruption was producing any more bubbles, but it didn't. Atomizer had its major eruption during Artemisia, which is so NOT cool because you can't hear the steam phase of Atomizer.
