Today Dave Monteith and I met at Norris.

We have one change to report following Gordon's report.

I stopped at Constant last night after a day in the UGB and saw only "surges" 15 minutes apart, contrasting that with my 3 closed intervals on opening weekend of what I would call "normal" eruptions, 'around' 30 minutes . Morning steam was so thick all we could see was one surge via the waves on the edge. No eruption.

Gordon's report of Carnegie Drill Hole is right on, we watched it for quite a while. Sirens on the road indicated something was going on, but when a helicopter hovered overhead and landed we surmised we were stuck. And we were. There had been an MVA north of Norris and not one but two choppers were flying in, landing at or near Norris junction. There was no way out!!! So we enjoyed the Carnegie "superbursts", then went to the back basin. Most visitors had already toured the basin so it was fairly quiet, but a few had decided not to wait in the parking lot and see Norris, again.

Vixen had water in it, audible and occasional sloshes, so we chose to wait out the road closure there. Water rose and there was an eruption, less than 2 feet. As water lowered there was a spike to 6 feet. We heard the 2nd chopper lift off, so didn't wait for another interval or drain, water was still audible.

Crater Hills Geyser, active; that was the remainder of our day.

Go Vixen!
