Part of the most interesting thing in this is that the "vista enhancement" needed to clear the view from the inn balcony to Geyser Hill would require the removal of only a small number of the larger trees -- those exact trees that are most likely to fall and/or get diseased. This is not akin to some sort of clear-cutting. The great majority of the trees in that (artificial) parking lot could remain, and a very small-scale maintenance program could maintain the setting into the future.
