I'll be fairly brief, noting only that: 1. the weather early was rather nice, temps into the 40s, before the clouds and then snow moved in. The forecast is for "heavy snow" tonight at least into Sunday, then continuing snow at times into Tuesday. 2. The bike trail beyond Castle and the boardwalk beyond Grand are closed due to bear activity. Never saw such an animal today, though one was seen by others between Biscuit and Black Sand, and another (or the same) in the East Parking. 3. Fountain Paint Pots is closed. One story is that the plow encountered too much ice to keep plowing the parking lot, and the timing on opening that is unknown. Old Faithful erupted several times. Plume 0952, 1046, 1137; then later at 1449. Beehive's Indicator was called at 1132ie; Beehive at 1143 gives a nice interval of 15h 24m since last night's webcam report. The "Red Dwarf" is very active. Never saw anything out of Lion, nor of Aurum. Castle 1408ns, was a major. Uncertain at 1228. After several minutes of solo Tardy, Sawmill took off at 1348. Grand was 0430E, then finally at 1432 (G2Q, interval 10h 02m). Down basin, we did see Daisy at 1324. Grotto was reported as 0800ie and that certainly was a marathon. It was still ie at 1100 but off before 1200 with Bijou dead as seen from Grand. Little Brother and White are active. I didn't see anything different at Black Sand Basin. At Biscuit, the surroundins make it clear that Black Diamond has hd considerable activity at some point, but today the water was semi-clear and gray-green. An exchange at the Silver Globes, with Silver Globe itself back to a high level and Avoca's main vent back to steamphase. Jewel gave me one interval of only about 5 1/2 minutes. That's pretty much it. Until whenever the weather allows..... Scott Bryan **************Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos.
