I got a few pictures of Morning's Thief in late May/early June when it was having a couple of bursts during Fountain's eruptions. It took several attempts before the wind cooperated and I could see Morning's Thief without it being covered in Fountain's steam. The width of the eruption is quite impressive coming from the fairly small crater. The first is taken from the top of the stairs early in Fountain's eruption and the second shows it with Fountain after I had moved down to the railing near Spasm 14 minutes later on June 1st. I can understand how people might think it is Morning erupting unless you are watching exactly where the water is thrown up from. The three Morning's Thief eruptions that I saw were in the size range reported and were large, wide bursts. I had hoped to post an image but unfortunately my timing was not quite right. From the road or from the walk near Clepsydra the bursts would have been very hard to distinguish from Morning itself. Fountain erupted at 1347 according to Lynn, and Fountain did NOT erupt at 8:45--I was in the area and both Fountain and Morning were full. _____ From: geysers-bounces at wwc.edu [mailto:geysers-bounces at wwc.edu] On Behalf Of carolyn loren Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2007 4:07 PM To: geyser listserve Subject: [Geysers] Visitor report of Morning/Fountain dual on 6/19 A Yellowstone regular (not a gazer) reported a dual eruption on 6/19 around 0845. Morning was erupting to 20 to 30 feet. No pictures. Kelli English knows the reporter; I haven't talked to him (and I'll be off the next 2 days). Did anyone else see anything new?
