Just a quick fill in on the earthquake that was felt in OF. it was a
2.8 on the richter scale at 23:53 about 1/4 mile south of lonestar.
According to what I have heard from park interp. staff in Mammoth the
effects in Old Faithful had registered a 4 of 10 on the lesser known
Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale which measures actual effects in
particular location. a 4 = noticed by most people and loose objects
are rocked.
The following after shocks registered a 2.3 richter scale at 23:53
slightly west of the first quake followed by a 1.1 richter scale at
23:56. then finally a 2.5 richter scale at 23:57. The three 2+ quakes
were very very shallow earthquakes less then .05KM below the surface.
