Gazers now present include Warren and Pat Hoppe, Jeff Cross, Darrel and Ann Scharf... and I think that's all. The Grotto marathon reported yesterday had, in fact, started in the afternoon of Monday, 9/25. It ended sometime between 1300 and 1345 yesterday, for a duration of roughly 22 hours. The recovery hot period, as reported by Warren Hoppe, began at 2231 (yep, about 9 hours after Grotto ended), but it evidently was rather weak with minimal Mastiff activity. And there was no eruption. This morning, Grotto was i.e. at 0720, and quit at about 0810. I just missed some sort of weak hot period at around 0720 (I got to the cage at 0732). That was followed by a low bathtub at 0826, a slightly higher bathtub at 0958, and finally a hot period at 1145 (not strong, Mastiff mostly below overflow, duration about 5 1/2 minutes). During this time, we remarked that the system seemed to be lacking water and, indeed, I cannot remember ever seeing The GIP so low except after an eruption. I mean, way down in. Other stuff included: Grand was at 0753, a -2Q. I caught Uncertain on my first walk out, at 0718; by watching it, I might have missed seeing some of that early hot period. I saw a Tilt's Baby that did not include the strong jetting, at 1208, which is why I didn't see the start of Daisy about then. Daisy was at 0904 and 1209ie. There was an Oblong at 0947. I think Plume was ie at 1018, and I know it erupted at 1112 and 1221. The only eruptions I saw along Firehole Lake Drive today were Logbridge and Botryoidal. I never did see Fountain. De-construction of the old OFVC now involves large dumpster-like things filled with insulation batting, broken wallboard, etc. Scott Bryan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
