Karen:
I randomly looked at the webcam about an hour after Giant started (I didn't
know about the eruption). Regrettably, I didn't take a screen capture.
Why? It didn't look like much. Yes, there was a lot of steam there, but
there was a lot of steam everywhere. There were a few images that looked
suspiciously like a larger steam cloud, but it could have just as easily
been a trick of shading in the general gloominess of the day. About 20
minutes later the air had cleared somewhat and there still remained a
lingering, low area of steam near the Giant location. I told Suzanne at the
time, "Well, if that is Giant it's wayyy into the eruption..."
Maybe somebody caught it earlier than I saw, but the general weather at OF
that day didn't support interesting webcam shots.

Does anyone happen to have the webcam capture of the Giant start (or any
part of the eruption) yesterdy? I had a girlfriend who sat out four
days of crummy weather, then headed back about an hour before the
eruption, and I'm sure such would cheer her up (she has MS and can't get
around quite as well as some of the rest of us).
Thanks!
Karen
