Not bursts, but "spurts"!

" The Grand, which we saw twice during an eruption, has no raised cones, but 
merely a depressed basin.  It is active about twice a day, and sends water 
nearly 200 feet. It usually makes about seven spurts, with nearly a minute 
intervening between each one. I saw this geyser make ten spurts, but this 
was more than is usually set down in the programme. "
