Several people have recently asked questions about the list. Here are some
general answers.

This list is served by Mailman at Walla Walla College. Mailman keeps
archives of all postings and has a Web interface for subscribers. Right
now, the archives are private to list subscribers and the subscriber
addresses are available only to the list administrators. Also, because of
the significant spam volume, email from non-list addresses is
automatically rejected.

It seems that very few list subscribers are aware of two features provided
by Mailman: daily digests and archives. Rather than receiving each
posting separately, you can set your digest option to receive all postings
for a day in one email. The archives begin in August, 2004, when we
converted to Mailman from Majordomo.

To select the digest option, or any number of others, go to

https://mailman.wwc.edu/mailman/listinfo/geysers

At the bottom of the page, enter your email address and click the tab for
"Unsubscribe or edit options." You will need your password (at the end of
your welcome message) to proceed, but you can have it sent to you if you
have lost the welcome message.

Once you reach the options Web page, the choices are quite well explained,
and you can set your account for what you want. For example, you can
temporarily discontinue message delivery without unsubscribing. Also, you
can get monthly reminders about your password.

The archives are accessible at the following link:

That's it for now.
