Opening day for the summer 2006 season!

Little Brother is still active.

Little Squirt was seen today at 1846ie.

Sawmill was in eruption most of the time today.

The evening Grand was 1825 (N/T2Q) with a duration of 11m 32s. West Triplet
started erupting with Grand. The brown color in West Triplet appears to be
a tainting of the water, something that has been seen in it before. It has
the color of weak coffee.

Oblong was erupting at almost exact 4h 30m intervals today.

Giant-Paul Strasser can fill in more of what it was like in the morning, but
Giant was very active today. Bijou was strong and jetting as high as 20
feet on several occasions. With this, both vents of Mastiff were frequently
surging over its rim and erupting several feet into the air and Giant was
frequently filling the bottom third of the cone and sloshing water over the
south side and front of its cone. For most of the afternoon when I was
there, the front vent was in a near steady state of "depth charging". Hot
periods were coming every 60-140 minutes, with durations of 1-3 minutes.
Immediately prior to the hot periods at 1452 and 1609, the back vent of
Mastiff began to erupt to a height of 3-8 feet and flooded the back of the
platform. Despite Grotto being in a marathon, it took close to 5 hours
before any effect was seen at the Giant platform and almost 6.5 hours before
Bijou finally stopped erupting.

Grotto started around noon and was still in eruption at 1840. Spa did not
start until close to 6 hours into the eruption.

Daisy had closed intervals ranging from 2h 11m to 4 hours.

The marker is still on Fan and Mortar.

There is an erupting feature in the Biscuit Basin area that appears to be
new. It is located on the western bank of the Firehole River in a marshy
area about 200 feet downstream of the foot bridge in the flats below Wall
Pool. The play was about 3 feet high and was overflowing into the river.

Fountain is still active. Recent eruptions have started from very low pool
levels.
