>From the Lower Basin:

Fountain was on short mode today. Steve Eide saw the first eruption at 07:33, duration = 34 minutes. Clepsydra shut off during the eruption. I had the second eruption 11:18 ie. Jim H. had the third eruption at 14:58 d=22. I didn't go down this evening because we've been having freezing rain, sleet, snow, etc. most of the day and I didn't want to worry about driving back after dark.

There was a report that Great Fountain was in overflow at 09:10 this morning. When I got down there at 10:05, Great Fountain was not in overflow and not in eruption (although the runoff channels were still wet). AT 15:00 it was still well below overflow. I didn't go back for the eruption this evening.

I watched the Pink Cone Group for awhile this morning. Two eruptions of Narcissus--10:16ns (d ~ 8m) and 12:11ns (d ~ 6m). Pink erupted at 11:44 with a duration of approximately 12 minutes. I recorded two consecutive eruptions of Dilemma--11:29 amd 11:50; then didn't bother recording any more. Labial was at 12:36. Intervals on Box Spring were 39 minutes, 27 minutes, and 25 minutes. Intervals for Bead were 41m53s (I was beginning to think I might have missed an eruption), 39m17s, then 30m50s, and 31m25s. Pink Cone erupted at 11:52--for an average of 20h02m for the double interval. The only feature I didn't see erupt was Labial's Satellite Vents, but I was only there for about 2 1/2 hours.

In the Upper Basin--

Aurum 10:47 per Steve Eide and 15:33 per Tom Kearney for an interval of 4h46m.

No report of Depression.

I saw an eruption of Little Cub at 7:56ie. Someone recorded an eruption at 10:22ie in the logbook.

Lion initial was at 12:46 with follow-up eruptions at 14:15 (d = 4m), 14:43 per the logbook, and 15:26 (d = 4m).

One eruption of Plate was recorded.

Plume intervals were 60m, 57m, 56m, then some missing eruptions.

Castle had a major eruption at 09:40 following the 20:56e major for 10/30.

Sawmill was quite active today giving Penta and Churn no opportunities to fill. Sawmill was ie at 07:30 end 09:01; 09:12 d = 10 minutes; 09:33 (I didn't stay for the end); then not ie at 13:00; ie at 14:10; not ie at 15:25; start at 16:21 still ie at 17:00.

West Triplet and Rift were each seen twice today. This morning West Triplet was ie at 07:30, end ~ 08:09. Rift erupted at 07:45 with a duration of approximately 25 minutes. West Triplet started at 16:05 during this afternoon's eruption of Grand and was still ie at 17:00. Rift started sometime after 16:35 and before 16:51.

Grand did two long intervals followed by a short interval. Yesterday afternoon's Grand at 14:54 was followed by an eruption at 00:54e, for an interval of 10hours0minutes. Grand erupted this morning at 09:25 (T1C, d=9:25) for an interval of 8h31m. This afternoon's eruption at 15:59 was a G3C. The first burst lasted 8m14 sconds, followed by a pause of 42 seconds. the second burst lasted 54 seconds, followed by a pause of 58 seconds. I couldn't see any water in the pool and thought I saw geyserite through the steam, so the third burst was a complete surprise. It lasted 39 seconds.

Steve Eide walked from Giant to Oblong this afternoon and waited less than 5 minutes before Oblong erupted at 13:26 with a duration of about 4 1/2 minutes. As I was walking from Grand toward Giant this afternoon, Oblong started at 16:38 with a duration of 6 minutes and an interval between eruptions of 3h12m.

Giant still has not erupted.

Grotto was ie at 07:30, off about 08:00 and ie at 12:27 (per Steve Eide) and off sometime between 13:45 and 13:55. Steve walked up on the Rocket major at 13:38.

Riverside erupted at 16:49, an average of 6 hours 35 mintues for the quadruple interval. Steve had gotten overflow at 14:35.

Fan & Mortar still have not erupted.

Daisy--12:27ie and 15:04ie, for an interval of about 2 hours 37 minutes.

The weather this week is definitely not Indian Summer type weather. There were a few sunbreaks resulting in rainbows over Geyser Hill through the rain, sleet, and snow, but mostly the sky was dripping. The temperature didn't get much above freezing because my green water bottle in my bicycle stayed frozen.

Steve and I saw the bald eagle several times today.

I know I already mentioned this, but the ravens are REALLY obnoxious. They hop up on the vehicles and peck at the windows trying to get someone to feed them.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Lynn Stephens
