[Geysers] geysers in Tibesti

I have had for a long time (years) a reference that notes geysers among the
hot springs near Pic Tousside, in the Tibesti Mountains of northern Chad. I've
also had the information that that entire volcanic massif is "off limits" to
all outsiders due to rebel activity, land mines, etc. But apparently that
situation has changed.

I have no new info about Pic Tousside, but... about 60 km from there is
another volcano called Tarso Voon, and 5 km west of it are the Soborom (sometimes
Soboroum) Hot Springs. And I now find that it is described as including
"geysers, hot springs and mud pits." Spring temperatures are as high as 90C, this
at an altitude of about 10,200 feet. And Smithsonian's volcano page states
that this is the largest fumarolic field in the Tibesti.

My, my. And the political situation there seems to have changed, as there
are web pages that discuss how to obtain travel insurance, where to rent cars
and guides, climbing routes, and so on.
