On 19 July 2005 the Gibbon Geyser Basin was visited. At Geyser Creek,
Avalanche and Subterranean Blue Mud Geysers were both active. Big Bowl
was erupting as a perpetual spouter (has is ever done anything truly
periodic?). The intermittent steam vent beneath the large boulder near
Avalanche was also active, I = 12-13 minutes, cycles *not* related to
Avalanche in any obvious way. Both Tiny and Anthill Geysers were dormant
and had sand in their vents. The bats are in residence in the cracked
rock above Bat Pool. In the Gibbon Hill Group, Phoenix Geyser was active,
one eruption seen lasted in excess of 20 minutes. This is its 11th season
of activity, 10 years since its rejuvenation.
