When Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980
my parents had a custom cannery in the Yakima Valley...
they swept their parking lot...covered with ash...and made some labels and sold it as a novelty in the cannery.
People saw it, made a deal with my parents, took it to Vegas,
and sold it in one of the casinos...
Yep...people buy anything..
I just didn't know about being sure exactly where it came from...
and dating it..
and that it would still be in the 'ash' state....
Of course I knew..*laughing*..that ash travels far and wide..
and a good wind...well, isn't that far at all..
Thanks friends..

Subject: [Geysers] Volcanic Ash Sample from Yellowstone Eruption
Hello All,
Apparently there is a buyer for the volcanic ash sample for sale on Ebay.
Anyway, not far northwest of Albuquerque is an ash layer that is believed to have been deposited by the last major eruption in Yellowstone. If this person makes good money selling Oklahoma ash, I may have to go dig some New Mexico ash and give them some competition.
