For the entire time I was there, southbound traffic was backed up on the loop road. There was a herd of bison on the flat (not on the road). I had intended to return to Firehole Lake Dr after Fountain, but the stopped line of southbound cars extended out of sight in both directions as I tried to exit. A driver was kind and allowed me to turn north, and I headed home, relieved to leaving the mess behind.</div><div><br></div><div>Still no sign of work on the road along Fountain Flat.
