Nothing is showing up on the USGS temperature records, but it seems possible (or even likely) that the probe got washed out of position by the major eruption and is now sitting high and dry somewhere. In the photograph the graffiti is under four to six inches of water. Since the surface pebbles have been moved it will probably not heal quickly. If someone in the park would mention this to the NPS.
