Sadly the colors are not as intense as in the article (prints fade). Which makes me think about all the other photo prints in the archives that to my knowledge are not on the web. Sure would be nice if NPS could scan and post them with the slides before
they fade any more. And make them all searchable. OK, I’m dreaming. Whom do we have to beg to make this happen? I’m not above groveling.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

The 2005 eruption of Steamboat reportedly lasted 15 minutes. I'm no meteorologist, but I'm skeptical about whether that that's long enough for both the mostly-overcast sky of the first two photos and the mostly clear sky of the third.
