<head><style>body{font-family: Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:9pt;background-color: #ffffff;color: black;}</style></head><body id="compText"><style>body{font-family: Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:9pt;background-color: #ffffff;color: black;}</style><style>body{font-family: Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:9pt;background-color: #ffffff;color: black;}</style><style>body{font-family: Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:9pt;background-color: #ffffff;color: black;}</style> Hello Everyone!     We had several events and other interesting things happening at Fan & Mortar during my visit last weekend.  My overall impression was that Main Vent had a great deal of steam in it often, with the exception of Sunday morning.  It seemed like Angle was playing very little between cycles.  I would often have 10 minutes or so of quiet after River went off before Bottom Vent would begin to rumble.  (I got to the point where I was hoping for Angle inbetween cycles, strange as it may seem!)  Many, but not all, of the regular cycles were long.  It reminded me a bit of spring mode, when the cycles were long and organized.  The big difference was that Main Vent was definitely present this fall, with some large (and small) splashes during event cycles and a lot of steam present at many other times.  The events described below have information about cycles with Main Vent splashing but no eruption during my visit. Thursday, Oct. 20    0820  River light steam, with Angle splashes    0828  Main Vent began to steam & shortly thereafter Bottom Vent bean spritzing    0837  River on, followed by Gold    0839  Main Vent "KABOOM!" sound but we did not see water                and then Main Vent continued huffing    0844  River off = Gold Pause    0845  Main Vent began splashing    0853  nice water seen in Lower Mortar - Main Vent splashing continues    0857  Main Vent white stuff - large splash - smaller splashes continued    0859  River on    0900  Main Vent splash about 2 feet high and pyramid shaped    0905  River off = Pause #2    0907  Huge white stuff splash in Main Vent    0908  Lower Mortar water was pooling, and Bottom Vent began an eruption at 0910    0923  River on, followed by Gold at 0930 and Angle at 0933    0936  Gold began showing some steam, and water levels slowly dissipated    I commented later that between Bottom Vent, Lower Mortar, and Main Vent, I saw more total water used here than I had ever seen in an event cycle before.    1219  River on, followed by Gold at 1223    1227  a great deal of steam in Main Vent    1229  River off = Gold pause, but it was short lived, as River came back on a couple of minutes later and nothing came of it.    1347  With River off, Main Vent began having steam rushes    1350  River on, followed almost immediately by a nice Main Vent splash    1403  Angle splash, followed by Gold.  Angle fully on at 1405.  Again, nothing came of this one.   About 1630 Bottom Vent began spritzing and then Main Vent began roaring lightly.    1744  River & High on    1746  Main Vent splashed, and then it continued roaring and splashing    1751  River off = River pause - Main Vent splashing continued    1757  Bottom Vent eruption #1, #2 at 1759   A short intermission while I biked up a short way to watch a 3 burst Grand!    River was ie when I returned at 1815    1820  a blip from Angle, then Gold began & Angle had a couple more blips    1824  Angle fully on    1829  Gold went to steam and the water levels slowly diminished Friday, Oct. 21    0933  River on - Main Vent steamy by 0935    0936  Gold on - Main Vent huffing continued, with a large steam rush at 0937 and steamy water at 0939    0942  Gold pause - Main Vent splashing began at 0945    0956  Huge white stuff splash from Main Vent    0957  Bottom Vent eruption #1 - Main Vent splashes continued    1007  Bottom Vent off, then #2 begins - MV splashes continued    1012  Bottom Vent off, then #3 begins at 1014, off at 1028    1029  River & High on    1036  Gold on    1041  Angle on    1047  Gold went to steam    1049  Upper Mortar gave a weak attempt    1054  By this time, Frying Pan was seen steaming    1325  River & High on with Gold at 1327    1329  Main Vent huffs, & River off at 1334 = Gold pause    Again, this was short lived as River was back on at 1337, Gold at 1340, & nothing came of it. Saturday, Oct. 22    At ~ 0727, River came on and Gold at 0730    0732  Main Vent "Boom!"  followed by a roar at 0734    0747  Angle on and the cycle played out.    If my notes were right, per Byron, 0853 River on followed by a large splash "poof" from Main Vent,      0906  River off = River pause  - Main Vent splashing continued    0914  River on    0916  Main Vent "POOF!" with a good splash.  Splashing continued    0920  River pause #2    0925  large splash in Main Vent, followed by a moderate one & then several small ones    0928  another good splash in Main    0929  River on, MV splashing continues    0936  River off, pause #3 - splashing & roaring continued    0939  River on    0947  Angle splashes, followed by Gold    0956  Gold goes to steam (again!)    1104  River on, and soon after Main began roaring    1110  Main Vent splash    1111  River pause, MV splashing continues    1124  River on, splashing continues    1130  River off = Pause #2, splashing continues    1138  Bottom Vent eruption, off at 1150    1151  River on, with Gold at 1157 and Angle at 1203    1208  Upper Mortar rumbled and at 1209 Gold went to steam    I also heard a "poof" and some roars out of Main Vent that evening, but nothing else of note happened.    Hopefully my times, etc. are correct, as fatigue is setting in!  Also, I hope that it is meaningful to those of you who know F&M well and may be able to tell why it is having a long interval.
