Subject: [Geysers] Re OFVC logbook

I don't speak for the park service here, but I've read the recent
postings about the OFVC logbook and sharing information, and would like to offer
a couple of things.

Giving OFVC staff geyser information for the logbook
is helpful for GOSA members and our staff both, and I hope we can receive as
much information as possible (and as soon as possible, so it can be part of the
logbook scans I'm now doing once a week). Our staff could use that
information on geyser walks, and all would benefit from having
it.

I'm sorry to hear that some information has not been
accepted in the past and have let staff know they can place lists of times in my
box and I will enter them when I can. You're welcome to put my name
on a list or envelope and I'll take it from there. Some of the posts
sounded like some incidents are a ways in the past, and I hope we can move past
that. Please do know that the visitor center can be so busy at times that
it is very difficult to spend much time with any one person. When Old
Faithful is about to erupt is an EXCELLENT time to come in! A few of us
know some of you on sight and will try to hand you the logbook when we spot
you. If there are any specific problems you've had, you're welcome to
e-mail me off the list and I'll do what I can.

Having said all this, I'm
out of hours as a seasonal ranger shortly; my last day of the summer season is
August 28. And, I'll be out of the park for most of September. I'll
scan, and will enter lists of eruption times before I go, and after I
return.

Carolyn
