Greetings and Salutations,

More trip report from July 30 to August 9 2010. We were in Norris on 7-31-20 and just entered the Back Basin to see Vixen Major (20 feet) 1201 ie, stopping at 1202. It started again at 1254 with a duration of 3 minutes. Pearl was so opalescent that it looked like the pool was filled with milk. However pearl was just lightly overflowing, no eruptions. Yellow funnel was a muddy perpetual spouter. I saw no major eruptions from Veteran but only watched for a few minutes. In the Porcelain basin Blue Geyser was giving big 5 to 20 foot surges for several minutes, then it quited down. The visit to Norris was then cut short by a storm with quarter size hail that really stung when they hit.

Up Geyser Creek on 8-4-10 there is a combined research group from U of Illinois and Arizona State dong stream and spring geo research in the basin. Oblique/Avalanche/Rockpile was erupting every 8-9 minutes with durations of about 2-3 minutes. Big Bowl was Active. Anthill was ac tive for the first time for me during a viist, erupting a fine spray a few inches high with no other vents nearby showing any associated activity. Subterranian Blue Mud never got mud near the surface. Every thing else was quiet when I was visiting.
