Hello Karen,

Yes, Spasm was active all summer, usually (but not always) erupting before Fountain. Sometimes once, sometimes twice at 1 to 1.5 hour intervals before Fountain, and a few rare times more eruption than that before Fountain. Once Fountain erupts Spasm is quiet for about 4-5 hours before erupting again. Occasionally Fountain starts before Spasm has a chance.

For Jim, just to confirm, that was two Fountain eruptions on 1-21 about three hours apart? Hmmm, any other reports of changes in the Fountain group?

Brad Barth, who drives the yachts out of West Yellowstone, asked me about Spasm. He saw it last week, and didn't see it all summer. He wondered if it had been inactive this summer. I don't write down geyser info while giving tours, so I'm not when I saw it last year. Does anyone remember (or have written down) when they saw Spasm in 2009?
Thanks.
