The NPS has extracted part of the data from Table 7 of the USGS Professional Paper on Norris and updated the list through the last major eruption (May 2005). In February 2007 it was reported that Steamboat had had a major eruption because witnesses saw a huge steam cloud and Cistern Spring was draining. Based on observations and analysis of temperature data from Steamboat's runoff channels, Hank Heasler and Cheryl Jaworowski concluded Steamboat had not had a major eruption.
