Greetings and Salutations. This is a late report of my visit to the part the last full week of September and again on October 4, 5, and 6.  Sorry its so late, but I got lazy.  Hey, it isn't a good excuse, it's just true.  First week in October the sunrise was about 730 and sunset was about 1900. First some of the newer stuff.  The morning of October 4th I walked down to Fan and Mortar and found the marker was washed.  A look at the log book showed the last known eruption was September 26.  A marker was placed that day and on the 5th and 6th it stayed in place.  Oddly enough I appeared to have one event cycle on the 5th (well, the sequence of events was proper between the vents on fan and Mortar but the energy levels were low and no water ever appeared in main vent) but no organized events on the 6th.  I suspect Fan and Mortar erupted the first few days in October just before I arrived.  Daisy was having daytime intervals of a bit over 2hr on the 4th (0131e, 0334e, 0550e, 0803e, 1013,    , 1428, 1633).  On the 5th I caught Daisy at 818, and next at 1056.  This seemed a bit long to me, so I called the visitor's center for the overnight times.  Starting with the 4th they were 1633, 1918e, 2221e, 0030e, 0247e, 0457e, 0818, 1056, 1353.  So a few close to two hours but many closer to three hour intervals and no consistant pattern.  Then on 10-6-08 Daisy was back to a bit over 2 hours (0703,    , 1115, 1321, 1532, 1745).  I'd blame the wind for the difference but the wind was about the same in strength and direction all three days.  One other thing I did notice, then the interval is about two hours it takes about 15 minutes to go from bubbling in the side vents and main vent to eruption.  With the three hour intervals the bubbling to eruption time was more like 45 minutes.  Riverside was doing mostly shorts in October and a mixure of long and short late in September. The marker on Penta was gone the morning of 10-4-08 so I replaced it.  There was at least one Penta water phase and one steam phase in the book the week before I arrived.  But in three days I only saw two Tardy cycles. Sawmill was mostly in control with a number of deep drains.  I expect Uncertain erupted several times between the 4th and the 6th but I only stayed around to catch one eruption.  Crystal Springs continues to have periods of activity with short periods of heavy overflow and 6 inch eruptions out of the satelite vents to the north of the main pool.  These appear to happen in series with 1-2 minutes between eruptions and the series lasting half an hour to several hours.  I do not know the interval between the series.  Grand was unkind in October, either erupting early before I walked out or very late in the interval.  On the 5th I did note the Sputniks were quiet, but full of water, something I had not seen before.  On the 6th the water was gone and they looked like they usually do.  I did not catch an eruption of the Sputniks the 4th, 5th, or 6th.  Castle has all majors 10-4 to 10-6.  Tilt's Baby never erupted for me in September or October.  The new vent under the boardwalk (Tilt's Grandbaby?) just steamed for me on and off in both the last full week of September and 10-4 though 6.  I wanted to see if the vent joined in with Tilr's Baby's eruption but I guess I will just have to wait longer.  By the way, if you want to see the vent count in seven boards from the end of the boardwalk and look for two small arrows written on the boardwalk to show you where to look.  For the last week of September Avoca Spring continued to erupt every 1-2 minutes.  I didn't check it in October.  Also in September I thought I saw some low splashing in Coral Geyser as I was standing in front of Jewel.  I walked over to Coral and observed it for about 30 minutes.  Every 3-5 minutes it would sound like it boiled stronger deep in the vent and it put out more steam, but I never saw any splashing above ground.  That said, the area a foot or two around the vent was wet as though it may have some small surface splashing now and then.  Green Spring still appears to be hot (judging from the steam it puts out) with light boiling over the vent and occasional stronger boiling with some weak increased water output but no evidence of any more eruptions.  No dead grass outside of the gravel berms and there are now some buffalo droppings that I think would be washed away in any eruption.  In general it is weaker than it was in August.  I will check it again closing week.  Sunlight Geyser continues to have occasional snowball bursts to 1-3 feet.  The vents between Green Spring and Ragged Spring continue to be very active.  Fountain in September was still every dependable as long as you have a recent eruption time.  I didn't manage to see it in October.  I will spend some time on it for closing weekend.  Morning's Thief usually makes an apparance during Fountain's eruptions but not always.  Gemini was active the last week of September and I think it was active in October too, but I only caught eruptions in September.  Whenever I drove by Pebble Geyser would vary between full and overflowing and down over a foot.  I do not think Crack Geyser was erupting, there still appears to be a marker of light colored pebbles on the opposite side of Crack from the road, it is scattered somewhat but I think that is from the rain.  Also, there is a bit of crumbling buffalo dropping on the south end of Crack that I think would wash if it had erupted.  But I must admit I could be wrong.  The few closed intervals on Pink Geyser were in the 19-21 hour range.  The small geysers in the GHG-3 area are only weakly active.  The little red vent and Uphill geyser are dormant and acting as drains.  Arrowhead spring sometimes is full, sometimes has no visible water.  If it has a patten, I haven't been able to figure it out yet.  In the last week of September Little Cub was having long eruptions but very weak eruptions, only a few inches above the Sinter rim.  This may be what was happening when Ralph Taylor's data showed no eruption for a week.  But I also saw some full eruptions like it usually has.  I didn't watch it much in October.  Plume continues to have intervals of about an hour.  The last week in September Beehive had several intervals of over 24 hours, but by October 4-6 it was back to intervals of just under 24 hours.  It still has most of it eruptions during the daylight hours.  Bronze Spring continue with the intermittant boiling periods with increased water output.  If it is erupting I wasn't lucky enough to catch it.  I did not catch any closed intervals on Aurum to know if the intervals are shortening up.  I guess I just have to wait for Ralph Taylor's next download.  October 4-6 Giantess had some periods of good north face boiling, sometimes 4-6 feet high.  I hope it's building up to another eruption, but then I always hope that.  I never saw a Giant hot period.  Bijou would occasionally shut off for 2-3 minutes but I never had so much as a footbath out of Mastiff.  I never expected the recent overnight Giant eruption Oct 2-3.  However, on a related note I had a visitor's report of an eruption of the Purple Pools on 10-5-08 at about 1200.  I was told about it as we watched an eruptoin of Grotto about 45 minutes later.  He said he was walking away from Giant towards Grotto when he looked back and saw the Purple Pools erupting over the trees to about 30 feet.  He was sure the eruptions came from the pools on the other side of the river.  However, I must also say that I saw the end of an Oblong eruption at 1158ie and that the runoff channel from the Purple Pools appeared to be normal with the usual cyanobacteria mats the next day.  So, make your own judgement.  Grotto and Grotto Fountain were working just fine in September and October.    Thats about it, until I remember what I must have
