You know, after seeing Kendall's pictures, I couldn't swear that it wasn't having periodic overflows/boils the day I was there. I'm used to barely paying attention to it, so I just took a token photograph and moved on.

It's hard to tell from the low-res images, but it doesn't look like there's any disturbance to the ground and vegetation around Twin in Kendall's pictures. If it had had a full eruption within the previous week, the signs should have been unequivocal.
Dave,
We visited West Thumb on July 12th in the evening. We spent about ten
minutes at Twin geyser. The energy levels seemed higher than I
remembered from the last few years, enough so that I took a few picture,
however I am not sure if this is new or unusual. (Attached are two
thumbnails of Twin geyser taken at 20:36). The water was boiling up to
about a foot. We saw nothing else out of the ordinary throughout the
rest of the basin.

The original pictures of Twin geyser are much higher resolution. They
are 12 MP images and show a lot more detail. If anyone is interested let
me know and I can e-mail them, however they are 5 MB each and many
e-mail system won't accept them. Hope this helps

I just heard from MA that the guy behind the desk at the West Thumb YA
said there was an eruption of Twin late in the week of July 7, possibly
July 10 or 11.

Anyone know anything about this or other interesting happenings at West
Thumb?

Dave
