While close by, the feature in this photo is not Terra Cotta or any of the vents in the Terra Cotta area. Terra Cotta Geyser is about 80 feet downstream from here and Terra Cotta Spring is about 250 feet downstream from here. This vent keeps coming back every few years in this area of runoff from Castle. There are a whole series of bubblers and fumaroles in this part of Castle's runoff. Every couple of years one gets larger than the rest and sputs for a while, then gets washed/buried before coming back in another area.

It was taken July 10 or 11, 2007. It is located near/in a run off channel coming from Castle. It is just over the bridge on the right if you were coming from Sawmill headed for Castle. I only saw it erupt this once while I was in the park - the water was a bit muddy.

Thanks,
Dan Paris
Hudson, NH_______________________________________________
Geysers mailing list
Geysers@lists.wallawalla.edu
https://lists.wallawalla.edu/mailman/listinfo/geysers
