It was something of a weird day. The Grotto that began at 1203 yesterday turned out to be a short marathon -- we don't know when it ended, but midnight is a good guess for a duration of 12 hours.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So the anticipated recovery happened at 0724. Whee. Duration 3m 03s. Yes. That was followed by a bathtub at 0930, then hot periods at 1011 (d = 7m 10s), 1141 (d ~ 3m 20s), 1259 (d = 7m 15s) and 1356 (d ~ 2m). The thing is, none of these hot periods was particularly strong. As Lynn said, the Giant Complex acted as if it didn't know whether to act on South function or North function. Indeed, with the short duration recovery, it wasn't even sure there'd been a marathon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, after several hours of blurbling around, Grotto Fountain finally started at 1314. Grotto waited until 1341 and then had a duration of 39 minutes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Artemisia was 1119.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Atomizer was 1125 (that's the only minor I wrote down) and had a quick-comeback major at 1137.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Daisy 0633, 0948 and 1241.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oblong was at 0958 and had not erupted again as of 1430.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Grand 0312E and 0941 (G1Q).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Castle 2344 major (visual observation) last night and 1259 major.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All I know about Geyser Hill is what I heard on the radio, and that consisted of a bunch of Plumes plus Depression at 1134. Sorry, I can say no more than that -- that was my day back from Arizona and I was dead tired, and also I'd spent most of the time that day on Geyser Hill. On Wednesday, August 8, Grotto erupted at 0653 for a duration of 25 minutes. The next Grotto was the one referred to above, at 1203 on 8/8 and ending sometime around 0000 last night, leading to today's 1341 Grotto.
