Hello All,

Another quick report. My son Steven and I hiked to the Fissure and Upper Groups of Heart Lake Geyser Basin on July 19, 2007. Activity was generally weak at the Fissure Springs and nearby springs. Water levels in the Upper Group are low.

The following geysers were observed at the Fissure Group:

Splurger -- normal nice long eruptions.
P116 -- looked normal
P-70 -- weak, nothing from the small cone.
P-68 -- weak
Shell -much weaker than last year.
P52 - low boiling, no small eruptions like last year.
P-51 - low boiling as usual
P-35 - normal eruptions about 10 minutes apart.
Glade - not seen in eruption, not even in overflow at the time of our visit to the area but I suspect it is still active.

Upper Group:

Deluge Geyser - 2 feet below overflow and has green bacteria in the vent.
Spike Geyser - the cone is in good shape, but no splashing from the cone seen or evident. The small vents at the base of the cone have boiling water in them.

I don't think many people actually bother to go to the Upper Group as we saw no human tracks or other signs that people have recently been in the area. There were a few small perpetual spouters still active along the banks of Witch Creek.
