Then today I was in again, stupidly given horrible weather. Two seasons in 24 hours -- yesterday's high temp 77, at 1300 today here in West it is hailing at 45 degrees.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyhow, yesterday the focus was on Giant. Grotto ended a marathon at about 0625, after a duration in excess of 25 hours. (From the end of this Grotto to the first overflow by Variable Spring was almost exactly 5 hours.) I finally departed before the recovery, which took just about 13 hours. I am told that the hot period started at 1926, had a duration of around 16 minutes but could not sustain vigorous action and resulted in no eruption.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yesterday morning I saw another decent event cycle at Fan & Mortar.</DIV> <DIV>0810 Bottom Vent having short eruptions, water flowing down the sinter into the gravel about 1/2 way to the river.</DIV> <DIV>0816 the first of several Main Vent splashes</DIV> <DIV>0818 River Vent on</DIV> <DIV>0826 Gold and High on</DIV> <DIV>0828 Angle on</DIV> <DIV>0839 after dying to mostly steam, Gold and High back on strongly (this had me interested)</DIV> <DIV>0846 Gold steam only</DIV> <DIV>0849 River off</DIV> <DIV>Thereafter, I and others saw uniform garbage down there, which is what I saw today at about 0730, with the marker in place.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The following is from Saturday 6/16:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Riverside 0751 and 1430</DIV> <DIV>Daisy 0723, 1040 and 1401</DIV> <DIV>Oblong 0558ie, 0929 and 1416</DIV> <DIV>Grand 0232E and 1021 (T3C)</DIV> <DIV>Not a single Lion was called all day!</DIV> <DIV>There were lots of Plumes, my recorded intervals scattered but all in the range of 47 to 52 minutes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Beehive erupted at 1518ie; not sure who made that call, but then somebody else called it at 1519 (without saying "ie").</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Today, Sunday 6/17 until I departed early:</DIV> <DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This morning, Grotto again appeared to be in marathon, probably beginning around 0300-0330. Bijou thoroughly died sometime between 0700 and 0800. However, an e-mail just received told me that it shut down after not more than 8 1/2 hours (about 1130).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There was an Oblong at 0711. And that's practically all I know.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Today, Little Squirt was active and Beehive was seen splashing early on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In the LGB, at 0645, Pink Cone was surrounded by wet sinter and its steam was still a bit "puffy."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I saw White Dome (about 10 feet high and 100 feet long in the wind) at 0643.
