<DIV>Well, OK, the big story of today would seem to be Giant, which erupted at
1209 (actual start possibly 1208 but not before that, per Scott Carsley who was
walking down from Daisy). I was about to leave the area, actually driving away
from the lower parking lot when I saw it just climbing. A quick bike ride had me
there by 1215.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Interval 4d 21h 56m. Duration unknown as I left for Fountain at about the
45 minute mark. Viewing conditions often were not ideal, as the wind (from the
north) blew the steam right toward the sun for much of the time.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>There was no gazer actually at Giant when it started. Talking to some
observant visitors, the first thing they noticed was Feather and apparently
almost immediately "splashing in other places" plus Mastiff to maybe 6 feet.
Mastiff was steady and water flooded off the platform. In time, Mastiff quit and
Bijou came on but Feather continued. Sounds like last Wednesday. As Feather
continued, Giant began surging and away it went. The best I could get for the
hot period duration was "several minutes."</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Grotto Fountain had started at 1153 -- the Grotto start was never called,
but Grotto was ie when I got out there, and it was off before 1230. This, I'm
sure, was the third non-marathon Grotto after the marathon that ended early
yesterday... Before Giant, there was a bathtub at 0816, a hot period at 0925 (d
~ 1 minute), a bathtub at about 1020, and hot period at 1059 (d = 1m 53s).</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Meanwhile, in the UGB I don't have much more to report.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Daisy was 0910 and 1202.</DIV>
<DIV>Oblong at 1112.</DIV>
<DIV>Riverside 1222ns.</DIV>
<DIV>Grand 0657ie.</DIV>
<DIV>Castle at 1052 was a minor.</DIV>
<DIV>Lion 0746 (not initial) and 0855.</DIV>
<DIV>Aurum 1150.</DIV>
<DIV>Plume 0801 and 0853.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>In the search for Morning Geyser, KC and Julie stopped there early and
found warm water in Fountain's runoff at about 0615. There were some indications
that Morning _might_ maybe possibly have erupted during the night, but that is
by no means certain. The Thomsons then went to Old Faithful for a while, and
then back to Fountain (and so, unfortunately, missed Giant). They saw a lot of
Jets, a Sizzler, three Spasms, one Jelly over the next several hours. I got
there; David and Karen got there; Barry got there. And not too long later we all
got Fountain, at 1349 (d = 33 min). Meaning that its interval was certainly 9
hours or longer.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>But no Morning. Morning's Thief had some wonderful bursts, probably
reaching 30 feet at times. (So we ask ourselves again, was yesterday's report
really Morning's Thief? Well, we still don't know for sure except that those who
were there and those who have seen the visitor's video think it was definitely
Morning.)</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>And so home.</DIV>
