I have been a dues paying member of GOSA for about 10 years now, and in that time I have never, <STRONG>EVER</STRONG> known of anyone to book rooms in the Old Faithful area for the purpose of "giving" them to other members. Your statement to that effect is not only wrong, it's asinine. You are slandering some of the finest, most dedicated and hardest working people it has ever been my pleasure to know. Much of what we know now about geysers and their tendencies are largely the result of many, many hours of study and observation by these people, and trust me, a very large part of it done in very much less than ideal weather conditions. The person that booked this room did so fully expecting to use that reservation for him/herself, and when, and<STRONG> ONLY WHEN</STRONG>, it became apparent that they could not use it they decided it offer the time they had booked to others on the list (time, by the way, that you yourself could have booked just as easily if you would have had a mind to. <STRONG>First come, first served----that seems like a pretty equal policy to me</STRONG>). This is no worse than you having to cancel out of a planned Yellowstone trip, and you offering it to your next door neighbor. Should I be offended by your doing that?
