Hi Geysers,
I wrote to Janus about the pic under the impression it was Great Fountain.
Anyway, they replied quickly. ~~~ Terri Davis
Dear Teresa,
Thank you for your email. Janus purchased this photography as a stock
image for our Janus Report newsletter and we were unaware that the photo
displayed illegal behavior as you described below. We apologize for the
oversight and will remove the photo from the online Janus Report.
Sincerely,
Maggie Butler

Message: You need to remove that pic of people standing on the brim of
Great Fountain geyser. That is irresponsible, fostering the idea to people
that it is OK to walk on such delicate thermal features. It's illegal, too.

That's not Great Fountain, but Strokkur in Iceland. ?I believe it is legal
to be that close (or was until very recently).

Marketing Newsletter

The cover of the Spring 2015 Janus Report (the investment newsletter for
Janus Funds) features a picture of several people standing on the formation
of Great Fountain geyser during an eruption.? A wider version of the same
picture appears on the electronic newsletter on their website.? I have
attached a copy of the picture from their website.
To see this picture used in marketing material really upset me.? I have
registered a compliant via email with Janus, explaining to them that the
picture shows individuals involved in illegal, irresponsible, and dangerous
activity and asking them to remove it from their website.? As of yet, I have
not received any response.
If anyone else would like to contact them regarding their use of this
picture, the Contact Us link on their website is:

The formation looks pretty dry for Great Fountain mid-eruption.

Maybe it's a photo of Strokkur? I don't know the local rules for where
visitors can walk there.

Michael is correct. This is a photo of Strokkur in Iceland, not Great
Fountain.
