Sunday, August 31, 2014 This geyser report includes eruptions I saw and eruption times reported via FRS radio or by other gazers. I visited West Thumb this afternoon. The lake level is higher than normal for this time of year. Lakeshore geyser was under water and the lake water level at Fishing Cone was just below the side bubbler. King geyser was boiling during the 45 minutes I watched it, but did not erupt. The water levels in the springs along the center boardwalk are the lowest I have ever seen them. Blue Funnel Spring at a little less than half full and Surging Spring at about half full had the most water. Perforated Pool was completely empty and Ephydra Spring was nearly empty. (By standing on the edge of the boardwalk, I could just barely see water at the bottom of Ephydra.) Percolating Spring had just a small amount of water (maybe 10% full at most), Ledge Spring was less than 20% full, and Collapsing Pool was about one-third full. After leaving the boardwalk area, I decided to try to catch Lone Pine, which rewarded me with an eruption a little over 2 hours after I arrived. While waiting for Lone Pine, I saw 5 eruptions of Occasional with the 4 closed intervals ranging from 18 minutes to 29 minutes.
