Stephen Eide's post reminded me that I haven't gotten a report from my last three weekends into the park posted yet either. Much of it was just routine things, but this may be a "news" item: Sunday morning (of closing weekend, November 4th) we walked over to Geyser Hill, and were surprised to see coins strewn around between Chinaman and the boardwalk -- mostly shiny, but one mineral-encrusted coin perched precariously on the rim of the crater -- and a pair of fresh-looking channels cut through the gravel going toward the river. There was no sign of any soap, and the crater was full of clear water. But I have a hard time believing that the gravel could have looked so freshly cut for very long, especially with nightly freeze-thaw cycles this time of year. Attached are reduced versions of two of our photos of the area. Sorry to say I did not look at it earlier in the weekend, nor did I look at it two weeks previously.
