[Geysers] Next summer's logger downloads

So I asked Mr. Heasler if I could help maintain the loggers that require no off boardwalk work (aka the logger is under the boardwalk, like at Grand)and possibly help with thermal cleaning next summer if I am hired for a position at Old Faithful and got this response.

“The current strategy is to download temperature loggers twice yearly. This minimizes human impact to the area and the need to be off boardwalk.

I appreciate your offer to volunteer for the YNP Geology Program. I do not have plans for volunteers at Old Faithful this year. There is a possibility to have a volunteer, based out of Mammoth, for a short time either early this spring or late in the fall, if you are interested.”

I see a few problems with this strategy. One being that if a sensor fails, it is going to take a while to find out that it broke and that may cause huge loss of data and that the data becomes more irreverent to current activity for when your in the park with fewer downloads because the data won’t be able to be processed except at the beginning of the season for winter data and after the end of the season for summer data. These download dates I’m guessing on based on the last launch and pull dates of the current data.
