Hello, We are 3 French students, at present in the second year of preparatory class for entrance to Grandes Ecoles in BCPST (Biolgie Chimie Physique Science of the Earth) at the high school Robespierre in Arras ( Pas-de-Calais ). We make Works of Personal Initiation (TIPE) (a research included in our program which is very important for competetitive examen) and we chose to work on geysers because we find this phenomenon fascinating... We are interrested more particularly in factors wich can to influence the periodicity of the jets (in particular the temperature and the composition of the water). For it we build a model and we try ceaselessly to improve it in order to approach us the reality. At present our editing contains a heating plate on which we put an erlenmeyer. We introduced 200 mL of water and a little food coloring agent to visualize better the phenomenon. We adapted it a tube with release and a bulb of casting for safety reasons (in this way we contain the water and avoid burn and fallout from water on the heating plate). This modelling is the result of numerous modifications with regard to our first editing, but we know that it is not completed. For the moment we obtain regular ascents of water. However we miss knowledge on this phenomenon because the bibliography is relatively rare, also we have difficulties progressing in our researches. Can you help us? At first by answering these some questions: - what is the average temperature of water in the chamber of a geyser? - what is the average height of the chimney? - what is the average pressure in depth, at the level of the chamber? - what is the average volume of water in the chamber of a geyser? - that what is what can facilitate the presence of a geyser? - have you another modelling of the phenomenon to suggest us? - have you of the bibliography or contacts to be advised to us? Thank you in advance! If you need more information we are at your disposal! (please excuse the faults) Looking forward to your answer. Yours sincerely.
