Anyone who is interested in Norris but hasn't seen the color photos in USGS Professional Paper 1456 may view them online and much larger than in the print version. Using the USGS photo site keyword search for Yellowstone & 1456 results in 50 photos, many of them quite extraordinary. Dr. Donald E. White is credited with the descriptions and probably took many of the pics. Included are Porkchop in 1972, Sulfur Dust Spring and Cinder Pool in 100 Springs Plain, and Minute Geyser erupting in 1947 among the more unique items. The shortcut URL to all 50 is: http://libraryphoto.cr.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/search.cgi?search_mode=noPunct&free_form=yellowstone&free_form=1456&free_form=&free_form=

Thanks,
Udo Freund
